Cincinnati IT support for the companies behind the big names

Cincy Support manages technology for small and midsize businesses across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky, with a particular focus on firms whose largest customers expect serious security.

A brand town, a river town and three states at once

Few cities this size host as many large headquarters. Procter & Gamble, Kroger, Fifth Third Bank, Cincinnati Financial and Western & Southern are all based here, and GE Aerospace runs a major operation in Evendale. P&G's long presence in particular built an entire ecosystem of branding agencies, design studios, consumer research firms and packaging suppliers that still defines a big part of the local economy.

Those relationships carry expectations. Large companies manage supplier risk formally now, which means the smaller firms they buy from are asked to prove basic security hygiene before contracts renew. A shop with twenty people may be holding unreleased product plans, customer lists or engineering drawings, and their clients know it.

Then there is the river. Greater Cincinnati spans Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, and plenty of businesses have staff, warehouses or customers in more than one state. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport in Hebron hosts the DHL Americas hub and Amazon's air hub, which pulled a wave of logistics and distribution work south of the river. Different states mean different breach notification rules, and a network that crosses the Brent Spence Bridge still has to be run as one.

Here is a pattern we see constantly in this region. A Blue Ash agency, a Sharonville machine shop or a Covington software firm lands work with one of Cincinnati's major corporations. Six months later a sixty-question security assessment arrives, asking about encryption, multi-factor sign-in, incident response and backup testing. Nobody on staff knows how to answer half of it.

That questionnaire is a good test of whether your IT is managed or just maintained. We set up the controls those assessments ask about, run them day to day, and keep the records that show they are working. Your team gets a dependable help desk, and you get honest answers the next time a customer's procurement department comes calling.

Built around Cincinnati's industries

Branding, design and consumer research

Agencies and research firms in Over-the-Rhine, Oakley and downtown handle confidential launch plans and consumer data for national brands. We lock down file sharing, control who can see client folders, and help you answer the security assessments those brands send.

Aerospace and precision manufacturing

Suppliers feeding GE Aerospace and the wider defense supply chain from Evendale, Sharonville and West Chester are being asked about CMMC. We help separate controlled data, tighten access and build the documentation a readiness review expects.

Logistics and distribution in Northern Kentucky

Warehouses and third-party logistics firms around Florence, Hebron and Erlanger depend on scanners, label printers and warehouse systems that cannot sit idle. We keep those networks monitored, patched and segmented away from office computers.

Insurance and financial services

Independent agencies, wealth advisors and accounting practices handle Social Security numbers and account data every day. We help with encrypted email, managed devices, MFA and the written safeguards that regulators and carriers increasingly ask to see.

Our process

  1. Start from the questionnaire

We often begin by walking through the last security assessment a customer sent you. It is the quickest way to see which gaps matter to the people paying you.

  2. Evidence, not promises

Patch reports, backup test results and MFA coverage are kept on record so you can show proof instead of just checking a box.

  3. One network across the river

Whether your people sit in Mason, Newport or Lawrenceburg, they get the same setup, the same policies and the same help desk.

  4. Plain answers

You will hear what we found, what it means for the business and what we recommend, without acronyms standing in for explanations.

Questions Cincinnati businesses ask us

A large Cincinnati customer sent us a supplier security assessment. Can you help us complete it?

Yes. We go through it with you, answer the technical questions accurately, and flag anything you cannot honestly say yes to yet. Then we put a plan in place to close those gaps, so next year's version is easier and your answers hold up if the customer asks for evidence.

We have staff in Ohio and Kentucky. Does that change anything?

For day-to-day IT, very little: users in Covington and Mason are managed exactly the same way. Where it matters is data breach notification and some industry rules, which vary by state. We help you keep the records you would need, and we point legal questions to your attorney.

What is Ohio's Data Protection Act and should we care?

Ohio passed a law in 2018 that gives businesses an affirmative defense in certain data breach lawsuits if they maintain a written cybersecurity program that reasonably conforms to a recognized framework such as NIST. We can help build the technical program and documentation behind that. Whether the defense applies to you is a question for your lawyer.

Can you support a warehouse as well as an office?

Yes. Warehouses near CVG and along I-71 have different needs than an office: rugged handheld scanners, label printers, Wi-Fi that covers high racks, and shared workstations. We design and monitor those networks and keep them separate from the computers that handle finance and email.

We are a small agency. Is managed IT overkill for us?

Not if you hold client files that matter. Many of the agencies we talk to have fewer than twenty people and still work under contracts with strict confidentiality terms. A managed setup is usually what lets a small team meet those terms without hiring an IT person.
